What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is a FDA approved procedure to remove unwanted
hair. With Laser Hair Removal, you will have more permanent, lasting
results over methods such as waxing, tweezing, depilatory, and
shaving.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser targets the hair follicle. Each hair is in a different
stage of growth. The laser works best on the Anagen or active phase
of growth for this reason more than one treatment is needed to
target the majority of the hair in its active phase of growth.
Who is a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal generally works best on individuals who have
coarse hair as result of tweezing, shaving, or waxing.
What Should I Expect During the Treatment?
A licensed provider will design an individualized regimen for you to
achieve optimal results. The procedure itself, pre and post care
instructions will be reviewed along with the actual treatment.
Protective eyewear will be given to protect your eyes from the laser
light during the procedure.
A small hand-piece will be used that touches the skin of the desired
area of treatment to deliver the laser light. A light spray of
coolant onto the skin will be felt just before each laser pulse. The
treatments are quick and little discomfort is experienced because of
the dynamic cooling device. The procedure can take as little as 2
minutes to 30 minutes depending on the area treated. The treated
area many become slightly pink after the treatment. This pinkness
generally resolves itself as little as 30 minutes to 2 days of the
treatment depending on the sensitivity of your skin and the
intensity of the treatment. Immediately after the treatment, cold
compresses are applied to the area followed by Aloe Vera gel. It is
recommended to avoid sun exposure throughout the duration of your
treatments.
How Many Treatments are Recommended?
Generally, 6-8 treatments are recommended; One treatment per month.
To receive optimal results, the client should follow the scheduled
regimen. Thereafter, maintenance treatments will be scheduled
accordingly. If you have irregular menstrual periods, or have a
condition such as, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome it is recommended
that you contact your private physician for evaluation and treatment
of these conditions prior to this procedure. Conditions such as
these may require additional treatments.
When Can I Start?
You can start as soon as you stop waxing, tweezing, tanning,
depilatory use, and bleaching of hair for at least 4 weeks prior to
your scheduled appointment. Then, treatment can begin. For the
underarm, bikini, chest, back, legs, and arms regions make sure to
shave the night before the actual day of treatment.
What are the Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal alleviates the discomfort you may experience from
ingrown hairs from waxing, razor bumps from shaving, and visibly
coarse hair stubbles due to shaving. You do not have to let your
hair grow out between treatments as would with waxing. You can shave
if needed between sessions of Laser Hair Removal. After each
session, watch your hairs become finer and reduced in quantity. Now
you can have less irritated skin and pores free of dark coarse
hairs…
